Flute Lessons Course is Offered by Ware Academy of Music
At Ware Academy, children ages 5-10 begin flute studies on a Yamaha fife. Played transversely by blowing across the mouth hole to produce a tone, it is like a metal flute. There are no keys to press, but holes to cover for different pitches. The fife is durable, light and short, suitable for children’s short arm span.
Specific flute techniques are taught including embouchure, posture (sitting and standing), breathing, hand position, fingering and instrument care in addition to the general music basics of note reading, meter, rhythm and musicality.
Welcome to Ware Academy of Music. I’m Lynn Ware, owner teacher of theory and classical guitar. Peter and I have been preparing students for theory and instrumental examinations for over 30 years.
Peter received his M.M. degree in composition from Yale University, under Toru Takemitsu and Kryztof Penderecki. I completed my M.M. degree in guitar performance at Kent State University. We are both National Gold Medal Teachers.
