Course Details

Students in our forklift training will gain value. New operators will get enough practice time to develop safe operation skills, and experienced operators will refresh their safety knowledge as well as un-learn some potentially unsafe operation habits.

This training is delivered in accordance with CSA B335 Safety Standard for Lift Trucks.

The course is interactive, and as applicable to the work environment as possible. If the client has their own machines, we will train with those machines. Otherwise, we’ll run the training at a local Cooper Rentals location and use their machine.

This course covers the following topics:

  • legislation and regulations applicable to the operation of lift trucks

  • company policies and procedures

  • operating manual

  • lift truck features and safety equipment

  • stability

  • capacity plate and location

  • preoperational inspection

  • start-up

  • travelling, with and without a load

  • pedestrians

  • load handling

  • ramps and grades

  • personnel lifting, lowering, and supporting

  • elevators

  • workplace-specific hazards

  • procedures for shutdown/leaving the operator’s position

  • refuelling/recharging
