This course is designed for new learners on counterbalanced forklifts only. ORCA has IVES Certified forklift instructors who will guide new drivers through the theory and practical application of driving a counterbalanced forklift. Participants will only be trained on their employers forklift.

If you are working on an Oil Sands member site, you will need the Oil Sands Safety Association version of Elevated Work Platform (if working on man-lifts)
Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) will issue apprenticeship and journeyman trade certificates for this course. A formal Energy Safety Canada certificate will not be given for this course.
Lift trucks are more commonly referred to as Forklifts. Counterbalance forklifts or lift trucks have a vertical mast, also referred to as an upright mast and have a counterweight at the rear of the vehicle.
This class requires “Adult Learning Theory” (provided by Made Safe) as a prerequisite. Crane or hoist incidents can cause significant injuries and deaths as well as extensive property damage.
In this 12-week program you will learn about the operation and preventative maintenance of heavy construction equipment. The Heavy Equipment Operator program is all about hands-on learning.
