This course will introduce students to the expectations for literacy and mathematics learning across the Ontario curriculum. Students will experience approaches and strategies used in the field to provide, support and teach developmentally appropriate numeracy and literacy skills.
Students will gain philosophical and practical knowledge in order to enhance their own skills, as well as reflect on their own literacy and numeracy development.

This course will provide students with an understanding of the learning processes for literacy, numeracy, and science as they are presented in the Alberta Program of Studies.
Topics covered may include: foundational basic math skills, vocabulary, problem-solving, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and money math.
The Workplace Training Program offers several sector specific training programs.
Research-based theories of literacy development are explored, with particular attention to their application to learning in classrooms and in families.
