Our French lessons focus on oral skills through an interactive general French program. As part of this interactive program, you will learn french with the cosmopolitan method + small groups. Our teaching method based on interaction and oral communication helps you improve your oral expression in French.

Our teachers use the teaching techniques we have perfected over 115 years. These techniques have helped millions of students learn french as a second language. Our french lessons are held in small groups, which means that you will always have the opportunity to practice your conversation skills with your instructor and classmates.

In order to adapt to your availability, we offer part-time group lessons. If you want to learn french in a progressive and effective way, try our part-time group lessons. These facilitate consistent and solid learning. Our online courses of 28 or 30 hours per session are spread over 7 or 8 weeks.

Our french courses from beginner to advanced level perfect all your oral skills in french as a second language. The Alliance Française Ottawa offers 5 French workshops to help you put your French knowledge into practice.

 

French grammar

The "elementary grammar" french workshop is intended for people who need to review the basic concepts of french grammar through simple explanations and numerous training exercises.

 

Goals:

  • Revise grammatical rules, identify and correct errors in a text

  • Avoid anglicisms

  • Improve syntax and writing style

The intermediate-level grammar workshop offers you 3 areas of work:  verbs and conjugation,  nominal group, and complex speech.

 

Goals:

  • Strengthen knowledge of french grammar

  • Improve writing skills and more specifically in a professional environment such as writing emails and reports.

 

Oral (speaking in french) 

The program of this workshop is based on themes  of daily life to  progress orally  by enriching one's lexicon . The discussions will focus on simple communication situations of everyday life to encourage oral exchanges between students.

 

Goals:

  • Enrich your lexicon

  • Develop your ability to express yourself orally

  • Acquire fluency to participate in a conversation in everyday life

The program of this workshop is based on the study of authentic documents  to work on  oral production and oral comprehension. The discussions will focus on  themes of daily life to encourage oral exchanges between students.

 

Goals:

  • Practice understanding french-language audiovisual programs (commercials, series, etc.) And discuss them

  • Acquire fluency to participate in a conversation in everyday life

  • Develop the ability to express oneself orally by addressing various topics

  • Enrich your vocabulary by reading various texts (comics, magazines, press, etc.)

 

Oral B2

The oral b2 workshop is a conversation workshop. It offers you a program based on the study of authentic documents to work on oral production and oral comprehension . The discussions will focus on themes of daily life to encourage oral exchanges between students and advanced grammar reviews.

 

Goals:

  • Develop the ability to express oneself orally and enrich the lexicon by addressing various topics and debating current topics

  • Acquire the fluency to participate in a conversation in everyday life.

The tef (french evaluation test) is an international reference test. This test measures your level of knowledge and skills in french. This test is modular. Depending on your objective and the steps you are taking, register for the version of the tef that includes the tests you need . The validity of the results is two years .

The tcf (test of knowledge of french)  evaluates six (6) levels of knowledge of french, defined with reference to the cefr.

If you want to start immigration procedures or apply for admission to french-speaking educational establishments, take the tcf.

The  delf (diplôme d'etudes en langue française)  and the  dalf (diplôme approfondi de langue française) are the official diplomas issued by the french ministry of national education to certify skills in french as a foreign language. These certifications are placed under the authority of france éducation international .

These 2 exams consist of 6 independent diplomas corresponding to the six levels of the common european framework of reference for languages ??(cefr) .

The exams are independent and the candidate can register directly for the one or those of his choice. Each exam assesses the four communication skills: written comprehension and oral comprehension, written production and oral production.

The delf junior is intended for teenagers, foreigners or french, who wish to enhance their skills in the french language.

The delf prim is aimed at all children who are beginners in french as a foreign language, engaged in studies corresponding to the elementary level or the required age (up to 12 years old).

The delf diploma for the junior or prim version has the same value as a diploma for the “general public” version for adults. The version of the exams is not indicated on the diploma.
