A short oral test will be held on arrival to qualify campers for the different levels : beginner or intermediate. Accordingly, courses will be held either in the morning or in the afternoon.
Objective
The course is designed to be challenging and amusing at the same time. The course will encourage work in cooperation with other students. It will also show that campers are responsible for their own progress.
The contact with young people from other cultures will bring home the importance of languages in the 21st century on a daily basis.
Communicative Approach
In order to achieve fluency, various activities are undertaken in spelling, dictation, and pronunciation as well as short writing tasks.
Each class consists of three teaching periods of fifty minutes each. The first two periods are structured.
The students learn grammar, and new vocabulary and practice communication skills. The third period is more relaxed: the students watch excerpts from films and play games.
Our language camp promotes the development of speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
Warm-up activities, core activities, and follow-up activities give students regular opportunities for practicing speech, vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills. Illustrations provide important visual support.
Since both English and French are spoken, students can practice their new skills on a daily basis.
Ekocamp International is a privately funded company. Our site benefits both from its proximity to the wilderness of the Parc du Mont-Tremblant and to the metropolitan amenities of Montreal.
Ekocamp International was born with the vision of bringing youth together from around the world, to work and play together in harmony and security. The founders felt that, as we move towards an increasingly international, interconnected and global community.
Ekocamp could help to prepare youth to play a positive role in this brave new world which they will soon inherit.
To achieve this, Ekocamp concentrates on skills training, with special emphasis on language, cultural understanding and tolerance. At the same time, it fosters a love for and familiarity with the world of nature.
The ‘global village’ is already an integral part of our daily living. Whether it is the fruit we eat, the coffee we drink, the gas which powers our cars, or the splashy T-shirt on our back, our quality of life is increasingly interconnected with the health of a multitude of communities around the world.
For the next generation, this will be even more true, as country after country joins the global economy. Language is the doorway to understanding the infinite variety of human cultures; understanding culture is the key to tolerance.
Working and playing together are the means through which culture and tolerance are given a human face and then extended through friendship.
Did you know that there are almost 8 million French speakers in Canada? Although approximately 85% of them live in Quebec, there are over a million who reside in other parts of the country, which means if you live in Canada, you probably come into contact with the language on a daily basis.
Our regular program is based on the four components of Conversa’s communicative approach to language training. Conversation is practiced at each class. Participants practice what is required to say in day-to-day situations and hold conversations with each other.
If you have little or no previous knowledge of French, Beginner 1 is the right level for you. Speak and hear French from the first day as you quickly gain basic conversation skills to communicate information about yourself, your family and friends, your work, and your daily life.
In this French course for beginners, a communicative learning approach is emphasized. The essential language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing - will be developed simultaneously.
Need to learn French for work, university or just for fun? Whatever your needs may be, our programs offer the perfect opportunity for you to improve your abilities in French.
