OLBI offers language courses for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Courses in French as a Second Language (FLS, français langue seconde) and English as a Second Language (ESL) are designed for language learners to help you improve your language skills.
Students from all faculties may enrol in FLS and ESL courses for credit, as well as staff and professors through the Language program for employees. OLBI also offers accelerated FLS and ESL programs.

Did you know that there are almost 8 million French speakers in Canada? Although approximately 85% of them live in Quebec, there are over a million who reside in other parts of the country, which means if you live in Canada, you probably come into contact with the language on a daily basis.
These programs are available all year round. The duration of the programs varies from 1 to 52 weeks and students can start on any Monday of the year. All the French courses consist of 7-levels, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Students develop all four skills.

The French Language and Culture certificates provide university recognition for programs of study in French as a second language (FSL). Two certificate levels are offered. The Certificate in French Language and Culture – FSL Foundations is ideal for the beginning French learner.
