Nelson Technical Institute (NTI) offers a range of courses within the Commercial Road Transport, Machinery Operating and Automotive. We also offer a New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills.
Levels 1 and 2 to enable trainees to get started on the career of their choice. We specialise in assisting your Company with professional training for up-skilling your team to ensure growth and sustain an efficient work force.
This course is designed for operators with little to no experience and/or looking to obtain their unit standards. Experienced operators will also benefit from attending this course.
This course will also enable you to perform pre-operational inspections, action start-up procedures for a forklift; and gain competence in using forklift skills to maneuverer loads, drive safely in multiple environments, and park and shut down the forklift.
For anyone who hasn’t completed any elevated work platform training we recommend this course to form a good foundation of knowledge. Please note that this is not an NZQA course – it’s better.
Our confined spaces courses cover NZQA unit standards 18426 Hazards of a confined space and 17599 Plan a confined space entry. We can deliver this training either at our purpose built training sites at Timaru or Napier, or we’ll come to your site and work within your confined spaces.
Companies need to have proof that all forklift operators are trained and competent to drive the type of forklift they are using in order to meet their Health and Safety at Work Act obligations.
