As determined by the Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committees, the G2 unit of competency is a statutory requirement for certain high-level occupational categories in coal and metalliferous miming (e.g. Open Cut Examiners). It is not a mandatory requirement for supervisors, however some mining companies have made an organisational policy decision that requires their site-based supervisors to hold the G2 competency (along with Mining Supervisor S123 / G189 accreditation).
There are no course entry requirements, no pre-course study and no-post course evidence to provide.
We have incorporated G2 into the first day of our 2-day S123 / G189 program – it is module 1 (Risk Management Process) of the 3-module program. Therefore, students who successfully complete the ‘Risk Management Process’ module will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency:
