Game artists build immersive worlds that players love.

  • Good game artists are both skilled artistically and possess an intimate understanding of next-generation game engines. In this course, students will learn to create visually impressive 3D assets and animations, while maintaining good pipeline efficiencies at the same time.
  • Students will choose from two specialisations: Modeling or Animation. Our Modeling specialization trains students to craft game-ready assets for deployment across platforms, from fearsome creatures down to the minute leaves and grass. Our Animation track teaches how to create convincing character body movements, from exhilarating special attack combos to jumping across a mushroom!

Diploma overview

  • Graduate with a WSQ Diploma in Media (Visual Graphics) conferred by SkillsFuture Singapore
  • 12-month full-time curriculum
  • Open to local and international students above 16 years old
  • 2 specialization tracks to choose from after Term One: Modeling or Animation
  • In-depth training in industry tools such as ZBrush, Maya and Substance Painter
  • Create next-gen digital assets for integration with Unreal game engine and VR
  • Study in a studio-simulated environment
  • Subsidies available for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents

Diploma curriculum

Term 1

  • Students will begin training in fundamentals, i.e. anatomy studies and software basics. They will also learn game theories, processes, basic modeling and animation.

Term 2

  • Students will commence their specializations: Modeling or Animation. Our curriculum goes in-depth into industry production techniques used in next-gen games. Modeling students will create environment and character assets, while Animation students will dive deeper into body mechanics.

Term 3

  • In this final term, students will learn to deploy their animation and assets into Unreal game engine. At the end of the course, students will prepare and graduate with a portfolio, which is a key requirement for getting hired!

Entry requirements

  • Applicants must be above 16 and completed 'O' Levels or equivalent, including English.
  • Applicants must also submit a portfolio and pass an interview.

Learning from old classics

  • Creating games isn't just about having beautiful visuals. Most importantly, good games need to be fun. So what better way than to start from the basics and study the classics aka good old pixel art games?

Pushing frontiers with next gen

  • Our curriculum is designed in consultation with next-gen game studios, artists and executives. Our program director, Julian Khor, has over 20 years of experience and was most recently a Lead Character Artist at Ubisoft.
