The M.Sc. Game Technology program at ICAT is a 2 -year, full-time program that provides you all-round knowledge and intense practice in every facet of the game industry. The program makes you an able professional ready to take up a career in Game Designing, Game Development, Game Programming, and in various Design related companies.
The program encourages students to build 2D and 3D visual game arts that follows the vision of any game concept, such as concept art, sprites, textures, environmental backdrops or terrain images, user interface, models, animations, 3D environments, and cinematics. Besides, the program equips our students to invent new game concepts, design the gameplay, and work on game development tools to create workable games.

Year 1
Semester - I
Game Development Process
- As a foundation module, this aims to provide clear knowledge on the principles of design that must be followed by a Game Designer to produce an output of industry standards.
Game Design Challenges
- Game Designing is the most important specialization in game development as it governs all other areas of game development.
Visualization (Theory & Practical)
- As games are a visual medium, the ability to rightly visualize an idea and deliver it in the right format is the one of the most important skills for a Game Designer; and it is developed in this module.
Programming for Games (Theory & Practical)
- Game Programming requires high logical reasoning and problem solving skills that are imparted in this module
Game Prototyping
- Prototyping is an important phase of any product development including games, as it helps students to communicate their ideas more precisely and also helps in testing and validating the ideas
Semester - II
2D Game Art (Theory & Practical)
- Enabling students to create digital assets for games is the aim of this module. It trains students in using 2d graphic-editing software that is commonly used in game production
Game Development using Engine I (Theory & Practical)
- As Game Engines are one of the most essential tools for a novice Game Designer to learn, this module introduces students to a commonly-used game engine
3D Game Art (Theory & Practical)
- Comprehensive knowledge on 3D digital modelling and the tools used to create 3D artifacts for games is taught in this module.
Game Development for Web
- The Web Game Development module introduces students to the custom game development methods available for Web.
Year 2
Semester - III
Game Development for Mobile (Theory & Practical)
- Enabling students to develop games that are playable in mobile devices and that have appropriate gameplay is the goal of this module
Modelling and Texturing (Theory & Practical)
- The students here are taught several concepts, such as UV Unwraping, Organic Modelling and Sculpting.
Game Development using Engine II (Theory & Practical)
- This module augments students’ knowledge on game engines by training them to learn and develop large-scale games with Unreal game engine.
Game Psychology
- Games being a rich interactive medium will create a heave impact on players. In game designing, the ability to create positive and safe experience is very important
Semester - IV
Animation for Games (Practical)
- This module teaches students to create 3D animations for games. The students get hands-on practice on various rigging and animation techniques
Emerging Technologies (Practical)
- As Game industry is always the first to welcome modern technologies, such as AR/ VR and IoT, experience with these technologies will help students to stay abreast in the industry and gain more audience attention.
Artificial Intelligence
- This module introduces students to various Artificial Intelligence algorithms employed in games
Level Design
- This module aims to introduce students to various theories and methods involved in building interesting and engaging game levels
Research Methodology
- The module teaches how research happens in professional environment and helps students experience the complete research journey from problem discovery to report writing
Project Work
- With the vast knowledge and skills developed through the years, the students here establish the capacity for autonomous learning through self-managed study, integrated research and reflective specialist practice
Internship and Viva Voce
