Always wanted to make your own clothes but not sure where to start? Or have you already made some garments but need some help with technique? This 4-week course is for you!
Over four two-hour sessions, our tutor Sarah will be on hand with expert guidance as you create a garment from a pattern of your choice. No need to fear tricky construction such as inserting invisible zips or fathoming sleeve plackets!
Bring along your pattern and fabric and we’ll help you take it from there.
This is a mixed-ability class, so you’ll learn at your own pace. What you can complete in four weeks will depend on the complexity of your garment and how fast you work! As an example, you can expect to complete a straightforward shift dress to a good standard in this time. Fast stitchers are welcome to work on more than one project during the course.
Our name refers to the way we feel the fashion industry affects its workers, its shoppers and the planet. Stitched Up. Fast fashion compels us to buy more and more clothes, which engulf our wardrobes and stifle opportunities for creative expression.
Meanwhile many workers in the global fashion industry are trapped in low-wage jobs, prevented from joining trade unions to demand better working conditions.
Patchwork & Quilting classes are offered by New Forest Fabrics for all skill level. We have 6 sewing machines for hire.  If you wish to reserve one, please confirm when booking.  The charge is £5 per class.  You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you prefer.
This is an opportunity to for absolute beginners and those who lack confidence with a sewing machine to learn basic skills. Basic skills that can be used in most sewing projects.
This beautiful sewing pattern has proved incredibly popular with the sewing community and we know you will love making and wearing your own version. We’re teaching this course in October, just as the weather will start to cool down, so you can style your new coat throughout Winter!
Wet felting creates a background of wool. Dry Felting is the craft of using barbed needles to matt wool into pictures and creative shapes. Embellishing with stitch, making felted vessels and beads can all be covered in this whole day of colour and creation.
The course consists of 5 units, each of which takes you through all the great functions step by step, building your knowledge of the software and guiding you through every stage, building your confidence to try new things.Â
