Course Details

Upon successful completion of all course requirements, participants will be able to:

Know and understand relevant workplace health and safety legislation, standards and codes of practice.
Communicate in the workplace.
Identify potential hazards and implement appropriately using the hierarchy of controls.
Calculate measurements of atmospheric contaminants.
Read and interpret a meter and be able to communicate the results.
Identify safe or not safe environment and determine required the actions.
Identify common flammable gases, irritants, corrosives, chemical asphyxiants and narcotics.
Understand explosive ranges and standards.
Understand conditions under which atmospheres become hazardous.
Interpret atmospheric conditions using atmospheric monitoring equipment.
Report results of samplings and interpret and communicate the results.
Complete required workplace reports/forms.

Outcomes:

This course is nationally recognised (accredited).
Participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for MSMWHS217 Gas test atmospheres and Competency Card upon successful completion of the unit of competency.
