It covers the skills and knowledge required to test the working atmosphere using electronic test apparatus, to determine whether it is safe for the proposed work, and applies to situations where an individual may be required to carry out gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific area or workspace, interpret readings and take appropriate actions based on these readings.
For students safety there is a maximum of 12 learners per course.

This course has been designed for telecommunications workers undertaking gas testing in the carrier network environment.
When gas testing is required

Risk assessments incorporating atmospheric monitoring requirements
Confined space permits
Oxygen deficiency and enrichment; lower explosive levels; carbon monoxide, methane and other gases
Exposure limits
Air densities of common gasses and implications
Gas testing logs and gas detector maintenance
Gas detector bump testing and calibration requirements
