Course Details

This course is specifically designed for workers who may need to monitor potentially hazardous atmospheres in the telecommunications carrier network.

It covers the skills and knowledge required to test the working atmosphere using electronic test apparatus, to determine whether it is safe for the proposed work, and applies to situations where an individual may be required to carry out gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific area or workspace, interpret readings and take appropriate actions based on these readings.

For students safety there is a maximum of 12 learners per course.

What You Need To Bring

  • Proof of identity to show your instructor – this can be either a current driver’s licence, passport or company photo ID

  • Enclosed shoes or safety boots

  • Appropriate work attire – long sleeve shirt and pants

  • Safety glasses

  • Laptop or tablet to access learner guide

Gas Test Atmospheres

This course has been designed for telecommunications workers undertaking gas testing in the carrier network environment.

  • Risk assessments incorporating atmospheric monitoring requirements

  • Confined space permits

  • Oxygen deficiency and enrichment; lower explosive levels; carbon monoxide, methane and other gases

  • Gas detector bump testing and calibration requirements
