The course focuses on the development of communication skills with a balance of speaking, listening, reading, and writing tasks. You will learn through class activities, individual, pair, and small group work.
General English includes elective classes that allow you to tailor your course to meet your learning goals, as you can choose an elective class to focus on a particular subject or skill. The elective classes are dependent on the level and student demand.

ELA teachers use a communicative language teaching approach, where interaction and communication are the main aims of study. Lessons involve active learning through pair and group work, in which teachers facilitate communication and provide you with every opportunity to practice your language skills.
We offer a short 40 hour IELTS exam preparation course, available to domestic and international students.
The full-time course includes more reading and writing as well as a range of options such as Grammar, Preparation for IELTS, English for Business, Vocabulary and Conversation. You can change your option regularly.
This course focuses on common language interaction in business, such as telephoning, writing business letters, meetings, and giving presentations. There is a strong focus on spoken skills and grammar, as well as an emphasis on formal writing and business-related vocabulary.
If you are planning to go on to further study in New Zealand after your English course, we strongly recommend our English for University course combined with IELTS preparation.
