Some of our teachers are bilingual and speak both English and French and some of our teachers do teacher training as well as teach English to learners.
We are all interested in other cultures and many have traveled and taught in other countries, such as: Poland, Thailand, Japan, El Salvador and Spain, to name a few. We have all experienced culture shock and know how it feels to be far away from home.

Founded in 1983, the International Language Institute (ILI) is one of Canada’s oldest independent English language school. ILI is recognized as one of Canada’s leading private language training institutes. ILI was the first certified Cambridge teacher training centre in North America to offer CELTA, the certificate in Language Teaching to Adults.

Under formal agreements, ILI’s University Preparatory English program is accepted in place of an official TOEFL or IELTS score at several leading colleges and universities in Atlantic Canada.

ILI conducts holiday study programs for students sponsored by foreign Ministries of Education, educational councils and universities such as the Abu Dhabi Educational Council, Saudi Arabia’s Academic Company for Educational Services, private Japanese high schools and Korean youth study programs.

The English as a Second Language (ESL) program is provided through Fanshawe College’s English Language Institute, which is fully accredited by Languages Canada.

Beginner to High-Intermediate students start with General English before moving on to more advanced courses. Through the Cambridge Communicative Method, students develop all 4 language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing).
In a small group, students get more attention and our teachers can be more responsive to their needs to Learn English in Canada. As a student, you have more opportunity to talk and interact with the teacher and your classmates.
In our Full-Time English Program you will learn all the skills necessary to effectively communicate in English. Your general ESL classes will concentrate on the following language areas: speaking, listening, reading, grammar, writing, vocabulary building, idioms, and slang.
