I also run week to week classes for those who would prefer on going tuition to gradually build up their skills and enjoy the experience of sewing in a small group of two.
With over 35 years experience as a professional dressmaker I have decided that I would like to pass on some of my experience to those who would like to improve their home dressmaking skills. Classes will be run from my workroom in groups of no more than two students.
One on one tuition is also available if you wish. You would be grouped by your levels of experience and the type of assistance required, this could be from learning basic skills, assisting you to make a garment from a commercial pattern or more advanced skills.
This workshop assumes you know to thread your sewing machine correctly, select stitches and alter width and length and can sew basic seams.Â
Over 2Â classes you will make yourself a simple skirt. You will cover how to read dress patterns, do basic pattern alterations to fit your measurements, cut and prepare fabric for sewing, then sew a skirt with waistband or facing with a zipper to fit you!
This course caters for students with a range of sewing abilities who wish to learn more about sewing and garment making. A practical course which includes basic, as well as more advanced sewing techniques and allows students to choose their own project.
Studio Thimbles Level 1 Course (STL1) is a course sewing for beginners like a White Belt in Martial Arts – in order to earn your Black Belt, you need to start with basics!  STL1 is a sewing course for absolute beginners to help you start your sewing journey in fastest and easiest way.
Have you recently purchased a machine? Or perhaps you've had one for a while but never known how or where to begin. This class will guide you through the complete set-up of your own sewing machine, giving you a good foundation to take on further projects.
