German classes are designed for students who have very little to no experience with the German language.
In this introductory course to the German language, students will learn the basics of German such as the alphabet, numbers (up to 1,000), formal and casual presentations, pronouns and articles, as well as common verbs, negation, and basic vocabulary.
Students will also learn basic greetings, self-introductions, speaking about careers, family, hobbies, making purchases, and more.
This class will be using a textbook and its workbook called "Menschen A1.1 Kursbuch" and "Menschen A1.1 Arbeitsbuch", which is also used at Goethe Institut.
These books are written entirely in German and will complement the class instructions. Students are requested to purchase the required books before class begins and bring them to each session.
Students may also want to consider purchasing the optional Menschen Glossary.
About Us:
The San Jose Learning Center was created in January 2011 by SJSU MBA graduate, Alicia Forbrich.
Being the daughter of two immigrants (Japan and Germany), Alicia has always had a deep respect for other cultures, languages, and people.
This inspired her to start San Jose's most diverse language school, offering classes for over a dozen foreign languages to teens and adults.
The school also offers private lessons for all levels and corporate programs for many companies throughout Silicon Valley.
Alicia strongly believes that offering a variety of languages helps the community learn about each other's cultures and build stronger relationships.
The instructors hired at the school share the same belief and contribute to the holistic and friendly environment at the school.
At SJLC, you don't just receive a high-quality education, you receive a community network to meet new people and learn more about the world.
Over the last 12+ years, SJLC has taught thousands of students how to communicate with people of other cultures and languages.
The school strives to not only teach people how to speak foreign languages but also learn about other cultures and gain an appreciation for those who come from other countries.
Our teachers come from all around the world, as do our students. Everyone gets along very well, regardless of nationality.
The San Jose Learning Center is a microcosm of what Alicia hopes the Bay Area and the world will be like.
