Our courses at Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and range from A1 for beginners to C2 for language skills at the highest level.
At Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta, we structure our progressive classes as follows:
To ensure learning progress, each course assigns homework and independent study work. Daily review of vocabulary is a necessity. The textbooks we use come with access to the e-book, interactive exercises on the internet, and a phone app for easy practice on the go.
To further enhance learning progress, we offer specialized courses with a focus on grammar, conversation, and cultural content at different learner levels that complement your language course, many offered with a bundle pricing option if you take two classes in one quarter.
Our standard courses are progressive language courses by level starting at the Beginner A1 level, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Our specialized courses vary each quarter and include conversation, grammar, German for Travel, Current Events, writing, literature, and other offerings. They are suitable for particular skill levels.
Intensive Learning courses for selected levels start in January and July each year and cover one CEFR level within 20 weeks.

History of the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta
Our organization was established over 40 years ago as a branch of Germany’s Goethe Institut, the premier German culture and language instructional organization whose global policy is to foster Germany’s relationships with other countries. While the Goethe Institut has withdrawn its monetary support from many of its branches in the United States due to internal budgetary considerations, the Atlanta office remains an official partner of the Institut and continues the mission as an American nonprofit organization.
Today, the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta is the most successful fully privatized nonprofit German Cultural Center in North America. As such, it holds “best practices” status as a former Goethe Institut.
The Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta has not just maintained, but has enhanced its services while reducing overhead costs and programming expenses. To build support, we have established close ties with many community nonprofit cultural organizations, European consulates, and local businesses.
