The class breaks for school holidays. Students who have a good command of basic German grammar and vocabulary and who would like to discover more about German culture. We will concentrate on the skills of speaking, listening, and reading. The class does not break for school holidays.
The U3A is an international volunteer organization providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities for people over 50 who are no longer in full-time employment. U3A Adelaide, located at the Box Factory, 59 Regent Street South, Adelaide, is one of some 21 independent U3A campuses in South Australia.
Our organization is run entirely by volunteers, utilizing the knowledge, experience, and skills of its members. We make new friends, learn from each other and share experiences in a relaxed, social environment.
With about 700 members and around 70 courses, members can choose from a wide range of classes and social activities. Our courses include languages, literature, music, philosophy, art, exercise and excursions. You can peruse the list of Courses before becoming a member.

The course contains a variety of interactive learning activities which cater for all levels of knowledge. There are worksheets and online tasks which students need to submit weekly for marking. Regular weekly speaking lessons are also an integral part of the course.
The course is best suited to participants who have as a minimum Year 12 level German language skills. The program uses a variety of course materials, supplemented by authentic texts including songs as well as information on current affairs. Emphasis is placed on the development of reading.
Express classes introduce you to basic language skills suitable for travelling or conducting business overseas as well as local customs and sightseeing options.
Our teachers are native speakers, brilliant Educators and are amazing at connecting with, and inspiring their students. Our pre-schooler programs are very hands-on and include many sensory elements to get the children engaged and speaking German naturally.
The language is the key to a rich cultural heritage at the heart of Europe. The Germans are travelers, innovators and as a country committed  to research and development.
