DurationTap is a rhythmic and dynamic art form that melds percussive sound with the jazz style. VPA Studios specialises in the Glenn Wood Tap Syllabus, which is comprised of levels from grade 1 to 9. At VPA we offer both examination and non-examination tap.
Students work through each grade of the syllabus learning new skills including barre, centre combinations, routines (fast and slow) and corner work. In addition, students can be selected to form part of a VPA Tap Company group, in which students will learn and perform various tap routines.
VPA Studios aims to develop a creative, engaging and inclusive environment where students can grow and enhance their talent and passion for dance.
We offer an extensive range of classes within the dance and performing arts genres including commercial and broadway jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, dance conditioning, technique, acting as well as HSC Dance and Drama mentoring.

Tap Dance is characterised by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. The sound is made by shoes that have a metal “tap” on the heel and toe. Although it can be challenging, tap is a fun way to make one’s own music.
