Students work through each grade of the syllabus learning new skills including barre, centre combinations, routines (fast and slow) and corner work. In addition, students can be selected to form part of a VPA Tap Company group, in which students will learn and perform various tap routines.

We offer an extensive range of classes within the dance and performing arts genres including commercial and broadway jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, dance conditioning, technique, acting as well as HSC Dance and Drama mentoring.

This lively, rhythmic tapping makes the performer not just a dancer, but also a percussive musician. Tap dancing is a vital part in a child’s dance education due the rhythmical factor involved, helping them to develop an acute sense of musicality.
We teach the ATOD (Australian Teachers of Dancing) Tap Syllabus and complete examinations. Tap is a great way to enjoy exercising at any age.
Our Sapphire dancers take one 45 minute ballet lesson each week to continue their foundational technique, along with their choice of tap, jazz, and lyrical.
Using metal plates on the soles of shoes, tap dance creates rhythmical sounds and teaches timing, musicality and creativity.
