The Graduate Certificate of Information Technology teaches you the theoretical and practical skills related to the design, construction, operation, support and maintenance of information technology (IT) solutions. You’ll learn a variety of entry-level skills relevant to the design and construction of IT solutions. This course is open to students who wish to transition into an IT career.

 

Study Structure:

  • Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Information Technology requires students to complete units of study to the value of 100 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.
  • Full-time study: 100 credit points/eight standard units of study per year
  • Part-time study: 50 credit points/four standard units of study per year
  • One credit point is equivalent to one hour of study per week per semester (including contact hours and private study)

 

Aims And Objectives:

  • Demonstrate a coherent understanding of the fundamental aspects of ICT solutions including appropriate project management skills
  • Identify, analyse and evaluate a range of potential solutions to problems by reflecting on associated trade-offs, work with stakeholders to propose appropriate solutions, communicate effectively the underlying value, and implement ICT solutions to achieve desired stakeholder expectations
  • Demonstrate creativity and flexibility in the application of knowledge and skills to new situations, to solve complex problems, to respond to ethical organisational and IT issues and dilemmas, and to think rigorously and independently
  • Demonstrate the professional application of a range of appropriate tools, techniques, and methods relevant to facilitate construction of information technology systems

    • This course provides graduates with knowledge and skills allowing them to undertake semi-professional work in field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and as a pathway for further learning.
    • The Graduate Certificate of Information Technology provides graduates from non-IT backgrounds a path to move into a career in IT.
  • Volume of learning
    • The Graduate Certificate of Information Technology consists of 100 credit points. Units normally carry 12.5 credit points (cps.). In each year, eight (8) units normally constitute a full-time load of 100 credit points and four (4) units normally constitute a part-time load of 50 credit points. The volume of learning is typically 1 year of full-time study.
  • Maximum Academic Credit
    • The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Graduate Certificate of Information Technology is 50 credit points (normally four units).
