This course introduces students to ancient Greek. Students learn the Greek alphabet, a core vocabulary and elements of Greek grammar.
Greek: the language of the world’s most influential texts, spoken in Greece, Cyprus, Albania, and various parts of the Balkans. Of all the Indo-European languages, Greek has the longest documented history, with 34 centuries of written records.
Discover the history, culture and literature of Ancient Greece by learning to read Classical Greek, the language of the Athenians of the fifth and fourth centuries BCE. Classical Greek evolved into koine Greek which became the common Greek language throughout the Mediterranean world.
The Greek International Language Elementary and Secondary Credit Programs provide International language and cultural instruction for elementary students and International Language (Greek) credit classes at St. Martin Catholic Elementary School.
