In keeping with the latest methodologies in modern teaching practices, the Year 9 and 10 courses have been developed to assist students achieve the Syllabus aims and Course Outcomes using innovative programs delivered in the e-learning class.
The courses are structured to meet the needs of every student in a blended learning environment. Each student will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of diverse activities and interactive tasks.
These self-directed learning practices are aimed at fostering an environment in which students can work at a pace best suited to individual learning needs in developing their language skills.
The self-correcting grammar exercises are designed to enhance the acquisition of language structures by providing ample practice and on-going self-evaluation. The learning activities allow students to measure success and target areas of weakness.
They further assist the teacher in identifying and promptly addressing targeted areas of weakness in a one-on-one exchange.

The use of the telephone and video conferencing ensure that students have close connections with their teachers, despite the fact that they are not in the same physical space. Our students are drawn from over 460 schools across the greater Sydney metropolitan area and other rural regions across New South Wales.
The school also offers Stage 6 English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) to students in regional government secondary schools. In the 2020 Higher School Certificate (HSC), 69% of our students achieved results above the state mean and NSW School of Languages students achieved First in State in 11 courses. Fifty-five students were placed in High Achievers List, earning marks placing them in top 5 in the state.
Of the 820 HSC students, 65% of students achieved a mark in the top two bands. Of the students studying an Extension course, 96% of students achieved in the top 2 bands.
The school has written new courses in Canvas for Year 9, 10, Year 11 and 12 Beginners and Extension students. These courses represent the latest pedagogy in online learning. Teachers will continue participating in professional learning on language pedagogy, assessment, and working with students with special needs.
Teachers at NSW School of Languages are experts in their language. More than half of the staff assist the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) to mark the HSC each year with a significant number involved in the setting or assessment of the examinations.
Our teachers present their research and expertise in languages and e-learning to international, state and local conferences. We hope that you enjoy your association with NSW School of Languages.
