At Northside Music Academy we believe that performing often is a very important aspect of a music student’s development. It teaches students how to present themselves in front of an audience, boosts self-confidence, and offers opportunities to share the joy of music making with others.
In addition, performing at Northside Music Academy recitals provides students with the opportunity to learn by watching their peers as well.
We are now open for both online and in-person lessons. As we opened our doors again, we want you to be assured that your safety is our first priority. We are taking additional precautions, including performing teacher temperature screenings.
Regularly sanitizing high touch surfaces, requiring masks/face coverings on school premises, and offering hand sanitizer in all rooms. We are also conducting business digitally as much as possible, so contactless payment methods and contact by email or phone are preferred. We truly appreciate your support during this time.
Is your young musician ready to pick up a new instrument? Our in-person Beginning Guitar classes give aspiring student musicians a creative outlet, and are a fun way to learn to read music and build strong practice habits
Guitar Lessons are offered by Let There Be Rock School
Guitar Lessons are offered by Portland Music Collective. Most music schools have “faculty.” At Portland's only music education cooperative, we call our music teachers Cooperative Teaching Artists (CTAs).
Students learn the basics of classical guitar (string names, finger positions, hand coordination), musical alphabet, theory and fundamentals using the guitar as a starter instrument. Students will increase fine motor skills and learn transferable musical skills in this accessible first entry class
