DurationLessons are customised to suit each student using our own developed method books and the use of technology to make learning easy. Our dedicated music teaching studio in Merewether Heights creates a positive and comfortable learning environment.
Our aim is to help students achieve their personal musical goals, whether as a hobby, studying HSC/AMEB or becoming professional. At MGS our students learn the fundamental skills and techniques required to play their favourite songs.
Practical knowledge such as learning to improvise, songwriting skills, performance techniques and how to play with others are core components of lessons.
Beginners and mature-aged students are welcome. All students are given the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience at our regular end of year gig.
In our music lessons, we focus on the joy of playing & creating music. All music materials are provided such as manuscript, TAB, chord charts, song links, audio files, videos to enhance and progress student learning.
Guitar Tutor, High School Music Teacher and Music Producer, Teaching acoustic guitar, Electric guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Songwriting and Music Production.
Styles taught: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Fingerstyle, Classical, Folk, Funk, Alternative tunings, Country, Popular and Alternative.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Contemporary Music from Southern Cross University and Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of New England, holding a current Working with Children Check.
Experience: I have 30 years’ music industry experience in music performing with some of Australia’s best musicians and touring the world as an original artist. I have released two instrumental solo acoustic guitar albums, three electronic EPs with my music released on record labels in Japan and New Zealand. Currently performing as a solo guitarist, DJ and playing bass in a retro funk/blues band.
​Teaching Methods: I have developed two guitar method books for beginner to intermediate learners. Other method books including Progressive Guitar Method and AMEB are used.
Music Notation, Chord Charts, TAB, Theory, Ear Training, Performance, Improvisation and Composition are taught.
All ages, beginner to intermediate levels - HSC, AMEB, Duke of Ed. tutoring is possible.
Customised lessons for students, setting clear practice routines provided with audio backing tracks to allow students to reach their musical goals.
A positive and engaging learning environment for all ages.
Our structured classical guitar program has been very successful in providing students with a solid technical and musical foundation, enabling them to take their instrument on various paths of success

Guitar lessons are provided in both individual and group format at Learning Through Music’s 4 music studios as well as Schools around Adelaide, South Australia.
