Course Details
Section 1: H2S Properties, Health Hazards and Locations
Describe the six properties of H2S in particular conditions
Identify the health hazards associated with various concentrations of H2S gas.
Recognize probable locations of H2S gas in the oil and gas industry based on H2S properties
Section 2: Hazard Assessment and Controls
Explain what a hazard assessment is and when it is used on a work site
Identify hazards at a work site
Evaluate the risk of exposure to the hazards
Apply control measures to reduce the risk of exposure
Monitor the effectiveness of the control measures
Section 3: Respiratory Protective Equipment
Identify the components of a self- contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)
Identify the major components of a supplied air breathing apparatus (SABA)
Demonstrate the use of SCBA including pre-use inspection, donning, doffing and post-use inspection
Describe use of SABA including pre-use inspection, donning, doffing and post-use inspection
Section 4: Detection of H2S
Describe the common types, functions and limitations of electronic monitors and detector tubes devices
Demonstrate pre-use inspection and operation of electronic monitors and detector tube devices
Section 5: Inital Response Strategy
Apply the initial response strategy to an incident involving an H2S release

Our in-person course includes both basic theory and practical equipment training. The basic theory module discusses working at heights hazards, controls, introduces the learner to the basics of fall protection, and ladder safety.
Employers must ensure workers on construction projects complete a working at heights training program approved by the Ontario Ministry of Labour before a worker uses a fall restricting system, fall arrest system, safety net, work belt or safety belt.
The aim of this course is to provide learners with an understanding of workplace investigations, including why they are conducted, what legislation requires
This course is designed specifically for non-electrical workers who typically use, apply and/or operate electrical equipment in the workplace or work in close proximity to overhead power lines.
