StitchSpace LA is a sewing and fiber arts studio where people of all ages come and explore sewing. Our open minded and efficient community helps students of all levels build a repertoire of skills that they can use to bring their visions to life.
An outlet for people interested in textiles and other fiber arts, StitchSpace LA is a place to experiment and find what kind of “making” makes them happy.
Over two sessions, you will learn: basic block piecing, sewing blocks and rows together, adding borders, sandwiching, quilting, and binding. Yes, really! You can choose a quilted cushion cover, a small table topper, or a baby quilt*; we will be starting with pre-cut squares to make it easier.
Whether you've never picked up knitting needles or just can't quite remember how, this is the perfect class for you!
Students must be fully vaccinated at the time of the lesson (2 weeks after J&J or 2 weeks after the second shot for Moderna and Pfizer) and provide proof of vaccination in order to register. Masks are required.
In this class you will learn to use an inkle loom and tablets to weave simple designs. With the same threading, you will be able to weave pattern variations depending on how you turn the tablets. It is fun to experiment and see what new patterns you can create!
The intent of the KAL / CAL is to enable participants to try out a new skill, design, technique, or yarn type. Most of the designs selected are for advanced beginners and up. We encourage everyone to push their skills a bit and suggest you try a project or two.
