Hand Tools

This unit standard will be useful to people who work in the civil construction industry. People credited with this unit standard can Identify and select, utilize, and maintain hand tools on a construction site.

Previously disadvantaged persons who through recognition of prior learning will be able to be accessed against this standard and receive National recognition for their competence.

This will enhance their employability and career advancement and contribute to the socio-economic transformation of the country.

Unit Standard Range:

• Hand tools in relation to level 1 construction activities on a construction site.
• Statutory requirements include but are not limited to:
• Safety, Health and Environmental legislation, and Local Provincial authority requirements,
• Productivity relates to the time taken to complete the task and that normal wear and tear on the equipment is not exceeded.
