This unit of competency is within the TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package.This course provides you with the tools to identify, assess, handle and store dangerous goods and hazardous substances in the workplace safely and in accordance with legislative requirements.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to assess and withdraw from hazardous situations in the resources and infrastructure industries and locate and evacuate to a place of safety. It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under some degree of supervision.

HAZMAT training outcomes include the ability to select, don, test and safely operate appropriate personal protective clothing and equipment for an incident involving dangerous goods and hazardous substances.

This unit covers the competency required to safely combat incidents involving hazardous materials. ‘Hazardous Materials’ is a generic term used to refer to an incident involving dangerous goods and hazardous substances.
