Persons Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU) at a workplace have obligations under the legislation in relation to hazardous chemicals. This obligation also applies to other persons such as importers and suppliers of hazardous chemicals.
This course will give participants an understanding of the use, handling and storage of hazardous chemicals and mixtures.
It also identifies how workers can be effectively involved in the process of hazardous chemicals management by identifying associated risks and minimising those risks as required by legislation.
A practical risk assessment activity is incorporated in the training. Participants are encouraged to bring workplace documentation such as Safety Data Sheets and Chemical Risk Assessments for use during activities.

The Control of Hazardous Substances short course describes the ways in which exposure to hazardous substances arises in the workplace and introduces the methodologies and technologies available to control exposures and thereby reduce risks to health.
Recognition and management of HAZMAT and HAZARD which may or can occur at incidents and emergencies at company/organisation and industrial sites/premises or workplaces in particular where HAZMAT/Chemicals/Dangerous Goods are manufactured, used, stored or transported.
This unit of competency is within the TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package.This course provides you with the tools to identify, assess, handle and store dangerous goods and hazardous substances in the workplace safely and in accordance with legislative requirements.
It provides an introduction to explosion-protected equipment and explains how to read hazardous area classification drawings and interpret equipment markings. Safe systems of work and safety issues such as toxicity are also covered.
