Course Details

Performing any activity or task in the modern workplace involves, to some extent, the use and application of materials and substances. Many of the substances used in the workplace are however hazardous to the health and safety of people and/or the environment.

Such substances are referred to as hazardous substances. Some hazardous substances are sometimes obvious to identify, due to their nature, but less obvious substances often also pose health, safety and environmental (HSE) hazards.

Hazardous substances are found in the form of chemicals, products containing chemicals, fumes, dusts, vapours, mists, gases, and biological agents that are hazardous to human health and safety and/or that could cause damage to the environment.

This Learning Programme will enable learners to gain understanding of Monitor and make recommendations on the application of health and safety principles regarding hazardous substances in the working place within the workplace and monitoring and evaluating such assessments to ensure that risks are kept to a minimum.

 

These are the outcomes of the Learning Programme and relate directly to what the learners need to understand, explain and demonstrate:

  • Explain the legal and specified requirements for conducting continuous risk assessments
  • Prepare to conduct a continuous risk assessment
  • Conduct a continuous risk assessment
  • Initiate remedial action and follow up on continuous risk assessment
