In this five-hour class, students will be able to identify the hazards and work safely with hazardous materials and chemical waste. This course will give the student an overview of the OSHA Hazard Materials Standard 29 CFR 1910.120.
The instructor will discuss general requirements, hazard assessment, hazardous chemicals, and hazardous material classifications. Students will also learn how to take control of a spill or release, OSHA recommendations, and establish a command system. We will also discuss the steps to decontamination, and the decontamination zone layout.
Students will also learn to use the Emergency Response Guide Book and NIOSH Pocket Guide to chemical hazards. Class includes videos, lecture, facilitated student discussion, demonstrations, skill testing, and written testing.

Hazcom/GHS training is offered by Safety Dynamics Group. Although we have scheduled classes in three locations, the majority of our environmental, safety and hazmat shipping training is conducted through custom training.
This course meets the training requirements for OSHA 29 CFR 1910.12. This training is required to work on hazardous waste sites in Washington State which require only the use of an air purifying respirator (Level C) and involves certification.
