The student learns specific engineering controls and techniques for handling hazardous materials. Training is accomplished through lectures, use of audiovisual aids, class discussion, and hands-on experience. This course requires a yearly refresher. Hazardous materials are not used during student practice.
In 1986 Design For Health Training Center began to present the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency AHERA training programs. We have developed and presented OSHA training to meet the diverse needs of our client base.
Our instructors have many years of environmental, hazardous materials, and construction safety experience.
This EPA / Cal OSHA accredited program is a five-day comprehensive course designed to provide information regarding proper work practices and the importance of appropriate protection to the employee and environment.
Participants will be instructed in proper construction methodologies for isolation of the work area which includes the construction of critical barriers, polyethylene walls and floors, and glove bag procedures. In addition, special emphasis is placed on engineering controls designed for minimizing dust.
Certification as a Contractor Supervisor/Competent Person is awarded upon successful completion of a 100-question exam on the last day. OSHA accepts this five-day course as an equivalent to their required Competent Person program. Specific course content includes:
