Our HAZMAT training course is designed for both everyday workers and Emergency Response Teams who may be required to respond to hazardous materials incidents in the workplace. This training course is taught by experienced Emergency Services Instructors who lead participants through both theory and practical sessions with the goal of safely responding to on-site HAZMAT emergencies.
This training course has a significant practical emphasis. Practical modules include:
Assessment of the incident scene
Selecting, donning and testing protective clothing (including splash or gas-tight suits)
Identifying and handling hazardous materials
Establishing hazard control and decontamination zones
Containing and recovering hazardous materials
Decontamination
Rescue procedures.
For group-based (company) courses, capabilities and course topics will be tailored and contextualised to the requirements of your work site.
Course Outline
HAZCHEM and dangerous goods legislation
HAZCHEM incident response protocols and procedures
Assessing an incident scene
Selecting, donning and testing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including splash and gas-tight suits
Identifying and handling hazardous materials
Establishing hazard control and decontamination zones
Containing and recovering hazardous materials
Decontamination
Rescue procedures
Relevant safety documentation, including HAZMAT emergency action guides (HAG sheets), SDS’s and HAZCHEM sheets.
Course Inclusions
Training conducted by an experienced emergency services instructor with strong knowledge of relevant legislation and Australian Standards
Practical hands-on training
Recommendations and advice for specialised PPE and equipment for a particular workplace
Advice on risk control methods for the type of work to be undertaken.
Each Trainee Must Provide

Be at least 18 years of age
Have at least a Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills
Have the ability to read and write English
Arrive in suitable attire, including long pants and closed-in shoes
Be clean shaven (for breathing apparatus)
