HAZOP Leadership and Management

Overview

The HAZOP Leadership and Management course equips professionals with the essential knowledge and skills required to oversee process safety and operational risk effectively. Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) are widely used to identify process deviations, assess risks, and prevent failures in complex industrial operations. Strong leadership is critical to ensuring that HAZOP studies are well planned, effectively facilitated, and carried out in a collaborative manner that aligns with organisational safety standards and objectives.

This HAZOP Leadership and Management Training strengthens the capability of leaders, facilitators, and team members to conduct comprehensive HAZOP reviews with accuracy and confidence.

It will develop and test the delegates’ knowledge, skills and behaviours for the effective leadership of process safety related HAZOP workshops. The course covers the fundamentals of HAZOP leadership, demonstrating how to apply the theory in practical situations and using real-world examples to illustrate key points.

Objectives

• Critically review the HAZOP technique and examples of output
• Analyse how the HAZOP technique can be applied at the different stages of a project’s lifecycle such as FEED, detailed design, revalidation and decommissioning
• Prepare for a HAZOP workshop, determine the skills and actions necessary to lead a HAZOPand how to generate a HAZOP report
• Understand the core principles and methodology of HAZOP
• Lead and facilitate HAZOP studies with structured and effective techniques
• Guide multidisciplinary teams through systematic hazard identification
