Why study this Technical Diploma in Health and Social Care? This qualification is for you if you are 16 years old or over, and want to apply your skills and knowledge in health, social care and childcare.  You can choose between an Adult Care or Childcare pathway.

This qualification is not only about babies, the elderly and the ill; employers in health and social care require their employees to deal with a range of people, tasks and environments whilst maintaining the safety, security and wellbeing of the people they are caring for.

Therefore, this qualification will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress into employment, either through an Apprenticeship or directly into work.

Learners will learn by applying their skills, knowledge and understanding to tasks or activities that happen in health, social care and childcare environments, and to the people that use the services including individuals who require care and support, their families and advocates, colleagues or members of the general public.

For Childcare Assistant pathway:

• Principles of working in health, social care and childcarae

• Health and safety in practice

• Working in a person-centred way

• Safeguarding

• Working in childcare environments

• Working with children in a childcare environment

Entry requirements

• 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above including English Language.

Entry process

Apply online through our website using the relevant 'Apply now' button at the bottom of the page. You will receive a conditional offer of a place at college, which means that you MUST meet the entry requirements to be able to enrol in the summer. We will provide details of how you can send us your results following GCSE results day, to allow you to complete your enrolment with us.

Career progression

Job roles learners could progress to include Childcare Assistant, Healthcare Assistant or Adult Care Assistant. Apprenticeships that learners could progress to following completion of this qualification include Adult Care Worker or Healthcare Support Worker.
