A course for Community Health Workers specialising in disease prevention
This is a new occupation created specifically to support the introduction of the National Health Insurance strategy. It is a government (National Health Council) driven programme. The focus in this learning field is on primary healthcare, with health promotion as a vital aspect.
Government is shifting its approach from the present high emphasis on treating diseases to the new approach of preventing diseases. The HPO will be required to play a pre-emptive role in the assessment and identification of health needs as well as to intervene in primary healthcare activities.
HPO can work in every sector ranging from hospitals, clinics, prisons, governmental health and social department, Rural public community health units, local government department, schools (primary, high schools, colleges Universities), private companies etc.
We are a private healthcare training academy registered with Quality Council of Trades and Occupations (QCTO) to train Health Promotion Officers and also accredited with the HWSETA to train Community Health Workers
This qualification is for any individual who is or wishes to be, involved in ancillary health care services. A learner who has achieved this qualification will practice the roles of health promoter, health provider, and health networker within a community development context.
