T Levels are designed to provide a technical alternative to A Levels and are developed in collaboration with employers, ensuring that courses meet industry demands and equip students with the precise skills valued by employers in specific sectors.
These two-year courses are equivalent to three A Levels, illustrating the depth of learning involved. One of the distinguishing features of T Levels is the minimum 45-day industry placement, allowing students to gain practical experience and develop essential employability skills.

The Health & Active Living Skills Centre at Loxton Campus is purpose-built to provide an exceptional learning experience and to meet the demands of the industry.
The centre’s cutting-edge facilities include a simulation training hospital ward and hi-tech medical mannequins, allowing you hands-on experience with clinical procedures. Industry-leading virtual reality headsets and 360 video software immerse you in real-world healthcare scenarios.
You will be taught by industry experts and, as the centre serves as a training hub for NHS staff, you’ll interact with professionals in various roles. The state-of-the-art resources and comprehensive training will ensure you’re well-prepared to excel in the health and social care sector.
What Does This Course Invole
During your course, you will undertake core technical qualification in the first year, followed by a focused study on your chosen occupational specialisation in supporting the adult nursing team during the second year.
Additionally, in your first year, you will engage in a social care placement, and throughout the program, you will have the opportunity to complete clinical placements within the local health trust or community care, accumulating a total of 315 hours of practical experience.
As part of this programme you will study the following topics:
Working within the health and science sector
The healthcare sector
Health, safety, and environmental regulations in the health and science sector
Health and safety regulations applicable in the healthcare sector
Managing information and data within the health and science sector
Managing personal information
Good scientific and clinical practice
Providing person-centered care
Health and wellbeing
Infection prevention and control in health-specific settings
Safeguarding You will also take part in an industry placement of at least 45 days as well as improve on your Maths, English, and digital skills.
The T Level is split into two components:
Core Component: (mandatory): This provides knowledge and understanding; underpinning key concepts, theories, and principles relevant to the T Level and the subject sector.
Occupational Specialism: This provides the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to achieve competence in ‘Supporting the Adult Nursing Team’. You will complete one Occupational Specialism, which will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to enter employment or further study in the specific occupational area.
Assessment Method
You will be assessed through exams and project work throughout the programme. You will need to complete all elements to achieve the overall T Level.
Future Opportunties
The Level 3 T Level will equip you with the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to progress into skilled employment or higher-level technical training relevant to the T Level.
Additionally, this programme will enable you to progress onto a degree in Integrated Mental Health and Social Care or Health and Social Care Practice at University Centre Weston. You can also progress to university in either health or social care related fields.
Entry Requirements
5 GCSE’s at 5 or above, including English, Maths and Science, preferably biology. A reference for placement would also be required from a teacher or employer.
