Excessive sound levels can result in permanent hearing loss, create physical and psychological stress and interfere with communication. Noise exposure standards are established by the Ontario Ministry of Labour under the Noise Regulation 381.
The regulation requires that every employer take all measures reasonably necessary in the circumstances to protect workers from exposure to hazardous sound levels.

How to recognize noise exposure hazards in the workplace
Noise Hazard Assessments using phase 1 and phase 2 sound level monitoring
Noise hazard controls

Responsibilities for hearing conservation.
