Who requires Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support?
If you work for Alberta Health Services or plan to work for them, you require Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support.

Course Details:
Basic Life Support is the fundamental course for all healthcare and emergency medical providers, delivered in a flexible format. The BLS Blended Learning course covers the same curriculum and teaches the same skills as the conventional instructor-led course but is delivered online through self-paced learning modules.
The course covers single- and multi-rescuer basic life support skills with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics in a wide variety of prehospital or in-facility settings.
BLS is a pre-requisite for advanced resuscitation courses and many healthcare-related training programs. A current completion card is often required for employment in the healthcare field.
You may also benefit from having your Basic Life Support level if you are a professional with a fire service or rescue team, a sports medicine professional, a lifeguard or a ski patroller. If you are not a first responder or medical professional, you may need CPR Level A or C.

The BLS portion is in class only in addition to the blended portion.
Designed to build participant confidence in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills and provide the important steps to perform a rapid assessment, perform Basic Life Support (BLS) skills, and perform rapid defibrillation.
BLS Course has been designed for healthcare providers and trained first responders who provide care in pre-hospital settings, hospitals or in other in-facility settings.
You will receive two certifications for this course
This course is intended to enhance the confidence of participants in performing CPR skills in a team setting, especially for professionals who are responsible for responding to emergencies.
