Course Details

Hindustani music unlike Carnatic music is greatly influenced by Persian and Islamic cultures and is more prominent in North India. The heritage of Hindustani music goes back to Sufi age. The main styles of vocal Hindustani classical music are Dhrupad, Khayal and Tarana.

 

Overview:

  • This course focuses on performing different Alankars, Bhajan’s and introduction to related terminologies.

 

Eligibility / Prerequisites:

  • The student should be min. of 8+ years.
  • Should have completed Hindustani Vocals Level 1.

 

Syllabus:

  • Ability to perform Alankars in 3 different Layas.
  • Sargam Khayal and Chota Khayal in each of Bhupali,Vrindavani Sarang, Bhairav and Kalyan.
  • Knowledge of Thaat System
  • Bhajan of Meerabai.
  • Knowledge of Dadra, keharwa and Teen Taal in Thay and Dwigun Laya.
  • Terminologies :Tala, Laya, Matra, Bibhag, Sum, Tali, Khali.

She has received “Karnataka Ratnashree'' award from Karnataka Samskruthika Academy.
