Do you naturally groove when out on the dance floor? Or do you simply see people bursting into dance, and wonder where you can learn to move like that?
Well, Free House is the place. Hip Hop dance is powerful and electrifying. Students will learn about the history, music, culture, technique, and styles that make Hip Hop one of the most popular genres of today.
Hip Hop dance cultivates individuality, allowing each student the opportunity to exhibit their uniqueness and personal style.
They are encouraged to let their voices be heard, express themselves wholeheartedly to the beat, and bring pride and confidence to their dancing. Ain’t no half-steppin’ here!
Free House Dance Plus was founded in 1988 by director Kathie Bernard in answer to a need for a quality, non-competitive dance studio with a personalized, inclusive, feel-good environment.
In 1991, serendipity brought the school to its current excellent, bright, convenient location in the quiet inner-city residential community of Briar Hill. FREE HOUSE Dance Plus operates in a single use, purpose-built facility with 4 bright & open classrooms.
Nearby, our students enjoy plentiful amenity space, adjacency to a family-friendly park and a short two block walk to the Lion’s Park LRT station.
Our Mission:
To educate – our focus, our mandate, our passion.
To ignite – your passion, your creativity, your inspiration.
To create – community, awareness, connection.
SMALLS Hip-Hop is designed to teach your dancer with a wide variety of different hip-hop styles such as old school, commercial, street styles and more!
This dance style offers our dancers the opportunity to let loose and have a blast through positive, upbeat and energetic movement.
Hip Hop dance borrows moves from popular dance styles, comic pantomime and martial arts while maintaining its own style that evolved locally and organically.
Each class ends with a new simple and fun combo to make you feel like you are in a music video applying what you have learned
This program will focus on proper technique of various hip hop styles, as well as incorporate the history of hip hop and how it has evolved to what you see in videos today. If you are looking for fun and/or a challenge, try this class!
