This Hot Works health and safety course details the process of hazard identification, duties of a Hot Works permit holder and safe work practices. 

The course is suited for people required to work under an issued Hot Work permit & understand the different Hot Work permits as well as know the limitations of each permit according to workplace procedures.

IWP Training has adopted the following documents as its main sources of information regarding mapping elements performance criteria’s to tasks and compliance to Health and Safety for Hot Works in the mining industry:

  • MDG 25TR, Technical Reference for the Safe Cutting and Welding at Mines; NSW Department of Mineral Resources
  • Welding Technical Institute of Australia (WTIA TN7-2013 Health and safety in welding.
  • Welding Technical Institute of Australia (WTIA TN22-2003 Welding Electrical safety
  • Safe Work Australia Welding and allied processes – Draft Code of Practice September 2011
  • AS/NZS ISO 31000 Risk management
  • AS 60974.1—2006 Arc welding equipment Part 1: Welding power sources (IEC 60974-1:2000, MOD)
  • AS 1674.2—2007 Safety in welding and allied processes Part 2: Electrical
  • AS/NZS 3100:2009  Approval and test specification - General requirements for electrical equipment
  • AS/NZS 4801 Safety Management Systems
  • AS/NZS 4804:2001 Occupational health and safety management systems
  • AS 2812-2005 Welding, brazing and cutting of metals

Upon satisfactory completion of this course, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment, recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework and issued under authority of the National Vocational Education and Regulator Act 2011

  • Wear comfortable and practical clothing
  • Please bring your own lunch

Prerequisites

  • Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age. 
  • A (USI) Number-Unique Student Identification number is required.
  • It is a mandatory requirement that you have Photo Identification with you when you attend the training either a drivers licence, passport or photo proof of age card.
