DurationThis class is an experience that allows students to be exposed to House culture through the history, music and dance. Here we will navigate through the depths of house dance through its foundations, applications and methods that enable students to develop and strengthen their movement vernacular, as it pertains to house music.
Jacking (Grooves), Footwork, Legwork & Lofting are how we will break it down with fun, educational exercises, as well as, sweat-it-out drill patterns and combinations! Come as you are, as we strive toward growth and elevation of each individual, while finding yourselves in this music and dance.
We served over 600 youth through our community partnerships. In response to the pandemic, we adapted our programs to virtual distance learning and are thrilled to continue partnering with KairosPDX Elementary School and Central Catholic High School.
This summer we also began a partnership with Urban League of Portland. Steps for Youth's after-school and in-school dance programs focus on providing quality, affordable and enriching dance education.
Students learn dance history, concepts (i.e space, energy, pathways), the health benefits of moving and stretching their bodies, and collaborate with their peers to create dances.
House Dance Classes are offered by City Dance Studios for all ages and skill level. Our instructors are highly accomplished dancers and excellent/caring teachers. It's very important to us that City Dance feels like a welcoming community to everyone who comes through our doors.
This class will break down the basic rhythms and moves of house dance such as jacking, shuffle, loose leg, and more.
Sekou's method focuses on the development of stamina and high-energy movement. He teaches foundation drills designed to help the student evolve and internalize the spirit of House dance.
House Dance Classes are offered by DonnaMation for all ages and skill level. Dance has the power to make us feel more alive and inside our bodies.
