Course Details

The aim of this programme is to help housekeeping and room attendants develop best practices for servicing hotel accommodations. At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the importance of the accommodation department and its contribution to the bottom line

  • State what is expected of them as house assistants or room attendants

  • Describe the main principles and practices of cleaning

  • Explain the importance of standards

  • Be better able to clean hotel accommodation to the standards required

The content has been created with a practical approach designed to give a good grounding to front-line staff within the housekeeping function, to highlight the importance of their role, and to instill best practice principles.

  • The Role of the House Assistant or Room Attendant

  • Technical Skills and Personal Attributes

  • The Importance of Attitude

  • The essential principles: cleaning and bedmaking

  • Discussion on findings

  • Standards: what are they, and what does “clean” mean?

Participative methods will be used throughout the programme, building upon the existing experience of course members. The learning methods used will include tutor input, discussion, and syndicated exercises. There will be a physical room check and discussion on the findings.
