This course applies to emergency response teams and personnel required to detect and identify contaminants at a hazardous materials incident. Participants will prepare, maintain and use specific specialist equipment to detect airborne contaminants, liquids and solids.
Training covers PPE considerations and use, detection strategies, identifying hazardous materials, assessing the risk posed by the material identified and formulating an entry plan for their safe isolation and removal.
Other topics include types of hazardous atmospheres and their effects on humans if exposed, relevant legislation and organizational procedures for entering a hazardous atmosphere.
