Like other Cambridge exams, the IELTS exam has 4 sections; writing, reading, speaking and listening. This range of skills means you will have the best possible chance of improving your English level when you do an IELTS preparation course.
Full time
Our full time IELTS course combines studying general English in the mornings with specific IELTS exam practice in the afternoons. This format gives you an excellent opportunity to improve your knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary without worrying about the exam. Then, in the afternoon your teacher will concentrate on the IELTS exam only.
In the afternoon session you will study each of the 4 IELTS exam components and devote a lot of time to doing practice exams. You will also get a lot of homework so that your studying doesn’t need to finish when you leave the school each day.
You can choose to how many weeks you would like to study on our IELTS course but we strongly recommend you do at least 4 weeks so that you have the best possible opportunity to do well on the exam.
Part time
If you do not have time to do a full time course we also offer the possibility of attending only the 7.5 hours of lessons in the afternoon which focuses on the exam. Of course we recommend the full time course but if you can only do the part time course your teacher will make sure you get lots of homework so that you benefit as much as possible from your study.

Our School
The Language Institute is now situated in the vibrant “Shore” area of Edinburgh. The building was previously occupied by the Leith Nautical college. Recently renovated, the school features modern and bright classrooms.
“Ocean Terminal”, a large and modern shopping complex is within 5 minutes walk from the school. As well as a range of shopping outlets the complex features skating, skateboarding, a cinema, a large range of restaurants and cafes and a soon to be built bowling alley. It also hosts the world famous “Royal Yacht Britannia”.
The centre will also soon be connected to Edinburgh’s new tram extension with very regular services going to the city centre and Edinburgh airport.
Which English course to choose?
Choose from one of our General English courses, Exam Preparation courses or Business English courses. Which course depends on your situation. If you are planning on going to university here in the UK then perhaps you need to do an IELTS course.
Maybe you only want to improve your speaking to help you find a job so a General English course would be better. The choice is yours but, of course, we are happy to advise you.
Our Staff
Our staff will do everything they can to look after you and help you while you learn English with us in Edinburgh. The Welfare officer will help you with things like registering with a doctor and if we cannot help you we will do our best to find someone who can. If you cannot find the information you are looking for please contact us.
We are happy to answer any questions you have about your English lessons and our school. If you prefer, why not come to see us in our school? You will get a very warm welcome and you can have a look around our Language School before you decide to study English with us.
We help you do better on the IELTS exam. You will practice all exam task types, revise key grammar and vocabulary, gain confidence, and learn exam strategies as well. You need to have at least an Intermediate level of English for this course.
