Course Details

The IELTS Preparation course is designed for students who are planning to take the Academic IELTS/ the General Training IELTS in the near future. The course focuses on the exam techniques for all four papers (reading, writing, listening, speaking), the practices of different types of questions (e.g. multiple choices, multiple matching, short answers in the reading part), common errors and areas of language that students need to improve in the speaking and writing section, personalized feedbacks in writing and speaking tests. 

The course follows a course book which students receive upon joining the course, and the teacher will also provide supplementary practice materials. The course focuses on the individual needs of the students in the classes, helping students with particular areas of difficulty.

Upon completion of the IELTS Preparation course students will have acquired the following skills and competencies. 

  • In the reading part, be able to recognize the different types of questions asked in IELTS tests, predict main ideas from titles and visual aids, use skimming and scanning to identify gist and details. 

  • In the writing part, be able to organize and present information in a coherent way, use appropriate language and vocabulary for specific tasks, use a variety of sentence patterns with grammatical accuracy, develop an argument and support it in a structured essay.

  • In the listening part, be able to use a variety of techniques to respond appropriately to IELTS listening test questions, identify the main ideas of an aural text, specific information and roles of speakers, identify numbers, dates, time, letters, etc. correctly.

  • In the speaking part, be able to introduce yourself and converse confidently on a topic, give an opinion and justify it, answer questions fluently and with clear pronunciation, use appropriate stress, intonation and speed patterns in conversations, use the appropriate vocabulary and grammar to express ideas.
