Module content includes:
Discussing the sources and transmission of infection, host susceptibility and antimicrobial agents in relation to control and prevention of infection
Critically evaluate current infection control practice, considering the impact on patients, staff and carers/visitors
Analyse the importance of leadership and change management in implementing evidence based practice in the prevention and control of infection
Use electronic clinical knowledge databases to locate; access and critique current best evidence on infection control and prevention practice

These modules are designed for practitioners working with health and social care clients. For admission to the module you will usually be required to provide evidence of the successful completion of 120 credits (or equivalent) at the appropriate level in a relevant area / discipline: 120 credits at level 5 (Dip HE) for level 6 (degree) study, 120 credits at level 6 (BScH/BAH) for level 7 (masters) study. assessment
This module will be assessed through the following methods: A 2000/2500 word written report on an aspect of infection prevention relevant clinical practice (80%). A presentation of the topic chosen for the written report (20%) – presentations will be conducted at a later date.
